Fans will have the opportunity to watch Gill receive his Lifetime Achievement Award at the 59th Annual CMA Awards on November 19.

Vince Gill is set to receive a prestigious honor at this year’s Country Music Association Awards.
On Monday, Nov. 10, the CMA Awards revealed that 68-year-old Gill will be the 2025 recipient of the Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award. He will be presented with the award during the ceremony on Nov. 19, following a special tribute performance.
The CMA describes the Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award as recognizing an “iconic artist who has achieved the highest level of acclaim in Country Music” and has made a meaningful impact on the genre and its industry. Recipients are celebrated for attaining “both national and international recognition through concert performances, humanitarian work, philanthropy, streaming and record sales, and public representation at the highest level,” the CMA adds.
“Vince embodies the very best of what Country Music represents,” said Sarah Trahern, CMA CEO. “He is a true pioneer who gives back to the community, honors the roots of our genre, and continues to share his talent with fans worldwide.”
Trahern also highlighted Gill’s accomplishments: “As a member of the Country Music Hall of Fame, an 18-time CMA Award winner, and former 12-time CMA Awards host, he remains a dynamic force in the industry. We are proud to honor an artist whose influence is so deeply embedded in the fabric of Country Music.”
Past recipients of the Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award include Kenny Rogers (2013), Johnny Cash (2015), Dolly Parton (2016), Kris Kristofferson (2019), Charley Pride (2020), Loretta Lynn (2021), Alan Jackson (2022), and George Strait (2024).
With a career spanning more than five decades, the CMA calls Gill “one of the most accomplished and respected figures in Country Music.” He has performed with bands including the Eagles, Pure Prairie League, The Cherry Bombs, and The Time Jumpers.
Born in Oklahoma, Gill rose to prominence in 1990 with the release of his hit single “When I Call Your Name,” which earned him CMA Single and Song of the Year honors, as well as a Grammy for Best Male Country Vocal Performance.
Throughout his career, Gill has released 20 albums, sold over 30 million records, and charted 45 singles. His work has earned him 22 Grammy Awards and 18 CMA Awards, including a record four wins for Song of the Year—the most in CMA history.
Recently, Gill reflected on his 50-year career in music by curating a series of EPs to be released over the next year. The first installment, I Gave You Everything I Had, was released on Oct. 17 as part of the 50 Years from Home series.
Gill also holds the record for the most times hosting the CMA Awards, leading the show from 1992 to 2003. He has received numerous other CMA honors, including the CMA Irving Waugh Award of Excellence (2014), the CMA Foundation Humanitarian Award (2017), and four CMA Triple Play Awards. He was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2007 and received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2012.
