Tim McGraw will no longer be performing in Colorado next month as he continues to recover from recent back surgery.
Originally scheduled to headline the Professional Bull Riders (PBR) Last Cowboy Standing event on July 21, McGraw has had to step back from the performance, as noted in an earlier press release. On Monday, June 23, PBR CEO Sean Gleason released an updated statement announcing the change in the lineup.
“Cross Canadian Ragweed will be filling in for Tim McGraw as he recovers, kicking off the Last Cowboy Standing event on July 21 in Fort Collins — and we’re absolutely excited to have them,” the statement read.
PBR Announces Replacement for Tim McGraw as Singer Recovers from Back Surgery
The Professional Bull Riders (PBR) organization announced that Cross Canadian Ragweed will step in for Tim McGraw at the upcoming Last Cowboy Standing event in Fort Collins on July 21, replacing the country superstar as he recovers from recent back surgery.
“The band is reunited and ready to deliver a night of unforgettable performances and elite bull riding. It’s going to be a show you won’t want to miss,” the statement read. “We’re sending our best wishes to Tim for a speedy recovery and hope to welcome him at a future PBR event.”
Country artist Jon Pardi remains scheduled to perform the following night, July 22, according to promotional materials. McGraw’s representatives have not provided a comment.
Although the exact timing of McGraw’s surgery has not been disclosed, a joint release from Colorado State University and PBR confirmed that the procedure took place “recently.”
“We understand this may be disappointing for fans who were eager to see Tim McGraw perform and sincerely apologize for any inconvenience,” the statement continued.
In a May appearance on TL’s Road House, the podcast hosted by Tracy Lawrence, McGraw opened up about the physical toll of his career.
“Between double knee replacements, three back surgeries, a torn rotator cuff, and a ruptured disc — it’s been a lot,” McGraw said. “There were moments this year where I thought, ‘This could be it. Maybe it’s time to step away.’”
Despite the health challenges, McGraw shared that he continues to stay active — albeit with more caution in his routine.
