During his performance at Melbourne’s Margaret Court Arena on Saturday, March 14, Green was struck by a stray phone.

Riley Green joked about “looking cool” after a fan’s stray phone struck him on the head during a recent concert in Australia.
The 37-year-old country singer spoke about the mishap during an appearance on TODAY Australia, revealing that the accident required stitches.
Host Sarah Abo noticed the mark and said, “But you did have a bit of an altercation. I can see the stitches in your ear…”
Green laughed, responding, “Yeah. I didn’t get my ear pierced—that was a phone at a show the other day.”
After host Karl Stefanovic described the incident as “terrible,” Green admitted, “I wasn’t quick enough, I guess.”
He added that despite performing over 100 shows a year for more than a decade, this was the first time something like this had happened. “You can’t let one person ruin the night for everybody,” he said.
Stefanovic asked if the fan was removed from the venue. Green replied, “I feel like they did. I think they got thrown out, and I looked cool. There’s blood running down my face during the show.” Abo noted with a laugh, “Well, you have a nice scar now.”
The incident occurred on Saturday, March 14, at Margaret Court Arena in Melbourne. Fan-shot TikTok videos captured Green wearing a button-down shirt, jeans, and a cowboy hat while holding a guitar at the microphone when the phone struck him near his ear.
Green appeared startled, briefly stopping the performance as a guitar tech retrieved his instrument. In another clip, a crew member can be seen dabbing blood from his neck. “Damn, am I bleeding? Y’all see how tough I am?” he joked.
He then pointed to the source of the phone and asked security to escort the concertgoer out, while fans booed the individual and cheered for the “You Look Like You Love Me” singer. A final TikTok clip showed the fan being removed from the venue.
The following day, March 15, Green shared updates about the incident on his Instagram Stories.
