The country music icon and Terri Clark stopped by the hospital alongside the nonprofit Musicians On Call to spend time with patients through music.
Reba McEntire is bringing comfort to veterans through the power of music, one performance at a time.
The country music icon, 71, recently paid a surprise visit to the Nashville VA Medical Center, where she spent time with patients as part of an event organized by the nonprofit Musicians On Call.
Joined by Terri Clark, McEntire performed songs for patients and visited hospital rooms individually, even carrying along a special microphone from the Grand Ole Opry.
“Being able to go room to room at the VA Hospital in Nashville with Terri Clark and Musicians On Call was incredibly emotional for me,” McEntire shared in a statement. “Music has such a healing effect, and witnessing that personally was truly meaningful.”
Musicians On Call is dedicated to bringing live and recorded music directly to patients in healthcare facilities across the country.
In a video documenting the visit, Clark, 57, revealed it was her third collaboration with the organization and her second appearance at the Nashville VA Medical Center.
“It’s wonderful doing this on my own,” Clark explained, “but seeing patients’ reactions when Reba walks into the room has been absolutely incredible.”
The “Fancy” performer said choosing a favorite moment from the experience was nearly impossible, though she especially appreciated the chance to personally thank veterans for their dedication and sacrifice.
One emotional patient was seen wiping away tears after meeting McEntire.
“It felt like a miracle,” he said, adding that McEntire has always been his favorite female singer.
Beyond their Nashville visit, McEntire and Clark also joined a virtual program that reached patients across the country, including those at Children’s National Hospital, Dolly Parton Children’s Hospital, Phoenix Children’s Hospital and TriStar Centennial Children’s Hospital.
