The artist behind More Than My Hometown made his initial appearance on the show in December 2020.

Morgan Wallen is set to return to Saturday Night Live.
On Wednesday, March 19, the popular NBC show revealed its lineup of upcoming hosts and musical acts, which includes the country singer.
Wallen, 31, is scheduled to perform on the March 29 episode alongside Anora star Mikey Madison. This marks his second appearance on the show, with his first dating back to December 2020.
Morgan Wallen’s journey with Saturday Night Live had its share of ups and downs.
Back in 2020, the 7 Summers singer was initially scheduled to perform on the show two months before his eventual appearance. However, he was removed from the lineup after being seen in Alabama partying without a mask and kissing several college women, violating COVID-19 protocols.
When Wallen finally appeared on the show, he participated in a sketch poking fun at the incident. In the skit, host Jason Bateman played a future version of Wallen, warning him to avoid the party.
“I am you from the future, and I came here to stop you from partying tonight,” Bateman’s character cautioned, predicting that a video of Wallen breaking COVID rules would go viral, causing backlash.
When Wallen’s character protested, claiming that SNL creator Lorne Michaels would never remove him, Bateman’s character explained, “Of course Lorne wouldn’t… but the NBC execs will make him.”
In the sketch, Wallen briefly considered leaving the party to avoid trouble, but Bateman’s character eventually encouraged him to stay for “another five or ten minutes,” referencing the party’s lively atmosphere.
Following his removal from the original performance lineup, Wallen addressed the situation in an Instagram video.
“I’m not positive for COVID, but my actions this past weekend were pretty short-sighted and have obviously affected my long-term goals and dreams,” he admitted. “I respect the show’s decision because I know that I put them in jeopardy. I take ownership for this. I’d like to apologize to SNL, to my fans, and to my team for letting them down.”
“You know, I think I’ve lost my way a bit,” said the Sand in My Boots singer. “I’ve been searching for joy in the wrong places, and honestly, it’s left me feeling emptier. So, I’m planning to step back from the spotlight for a while and focus on myself.”
In other Saturday Night Live news, Jack Black will take on hosting duties for the fourth time on April 5, with musical performances by Elton John and Brandi Carlile. The following week, on April 12, Jon Hamm will host the show alongside musical guest Lizzo.
