At the time of publication, 89 people have been confirmed dead, including 27 campers and counselors from Camp Mystic.

Miranda Lambert and her nonprofit, MuttNation Foundation, are stepping up to assist communities affected by the severe flooding in Texas.
On Saturday, July 5, the country music star—who hails from Texas—shared a video on Instagram expressing her sorrow over the devastation caused by the heavy rains and flooding across southern and central parts of the state.
“I’m heartbroken over what’s happening in Texas. There truly aren’t words for the kind of loss so many people are facing,” said Lambert, 41, in the clip.
She went on to explain that MuttNation is actively working alongside Kerrville Pets Alive to assess the situation and determine how best to help pet owners and animals impacted by the disaster. “We’re in close contact with Kerrville Pets Alive right now, trying to gather information and figure out where help is most needed,” she said. “I’ll continue to share updates as we get them.”
Miranda Lambert is encouraging fans to step up and support those affected by the catastrophic flooding in Texas—especially the pets and animal shelters in crisis.
“Please join us in helping however you can, and keep the prayers coming,” Lambert said at the close of her Instagram video. “I’ll continue to keep you updated.”
The singer also used her Instagram Stories to share actionable ways people can get involved. Suggestions included fostering displaced animals, volunteering for tasks like supply deliveries and remote data entry, donating supplies to shelters, reporting lost and found pets, and making financial contributions.
Supporters can contribute via MuttNation’s official website or through Instagram, with the goal of raising $15,000. As of the latest update, over $14,000 has already been collected.
According to its website, MuttNation Foundation—founded in 2009—has raised more than $11 million and helped over 1,000 shelters across the country. The nonprofit is committed to promoting pet adoption, increasing public awareness around spaying and neutering, and offering aid to shelters impacted by natural disasters.
The flooding began on July 4, when torrential rains caused the Guadalupe River near San Antonio to overflow, leading to widespread damage across Central Texas. As reported by The Associated Press, 89 people have been confirmed dead so far, with dozens still unaccounted for.
One of the hardest-hit areas was Camp Mystic, where 27 campers and counselors tragically lost their lives. The camp shared a message on its website asking for continued prayers and privacy for the families involved: “May the Lord continue to wrap His presence around all of us.”
Lambert has long been vocal about her dedication to animal welfare. In a 2023 interview with PEOPLE, she spoke about the joy of working with her mother, Beverly June Lambert, through MuttNation.
“It’s so special to share something you’re passionate about with your mom,” she said. “She’s always been my biggest supporter. And MuttNation is really about something bigger than either of us—it’s not about the spotlight or the stage. It’s about doing something real that helps animals and makes a difference in the world.”
