Miranda Lambert has officially achieved icon status!
The 40-year-old country music sensation will be recognized with the Country Icon Award at the 2024 People’s Choice Country Awards. The event, hosted by Shania Twain, will be broadcast live from the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville on Thursday, September 26.
As noted in a press release to PEOPLE, Lambert is receiving this award for her extensive career, during which she has developed a genuine, female-driven brand of country music that has made a significant impact on the industry.
“Miranda Lambert has been a powerful force in country music for over 20 years, with her groundbreaking albums resonating with fans worldwide. We are thrilled to honor her career, bold individuality, and contributions to the industry with the Country Icon Award,” said Jen Neal, Executive Vice President, Live Events and Specials at NBCUniversal Entertainment.
Earlier this month, Lambert shared her thoughts on mentoring younger artists during an appearance on Bunnie Xo’s Dumb Blonde podcast.
“Since I don’t have kids, I want to pass on what I’ve learned to the next generation, especially artists, because no one really prepares you for this journey,” Lambert explained.
“There’s no manual that says, ‘When you reach this level, here’s what to expect,'” she added. “Seeing the passion in the eyes of newcomers reignites my own passion.”
Lambert revealed in July that her upcoming album, titled Postcards From Texas, will feature 14 tracks and is set to be released on September 13.
Regarding what fans can anticipate from this new project, Lambert previously mentioned to PEOPLE that it is “very country.”
“I recorded this album in Texas, and it’s been a long time since I’ve made one there—since I was 18. I went to Arlyn Studios in Austin, and my best friend, Jon Randall, who is also my co-writer and co-producer, worked closely with me,” she shared with PEOPLE at the Lone River Collective event in Frisco, Texas, in May.
“Returning to Texas to create this album felt perfect for this new season and chapter in my life,” Lambert added. “I signed with Republic Records, and this new team has really ignited my passion and creativity, as they focus entirely on the music.”
