Kacey Musgraves is taking time to recover after a painful accident.
On Friday, June 20, the 36-year-old country star posted updates to her Instagram Stories, explaining she had to postpone an upcoming performance due to a rib injury she sustained from a serious fall.
“So… I’m in Mexico with a f—— broken rib,” she wrote over an X-ray image of her torso.
Musgraves explained that the injury happened Wednesday night during a rainstorm. While hurrying to grab towels, she slipped on slick tile she hadn’t noticed. “I’m really grateful I didn’t hit my head, but I fell hard on my left side and fractured my sixth rib,” she shared.
Though in significant pain and finding even simple tasks challenging, Musgraves noted she’s being cared for and doing her best to manage.
As a result, the “Cardinal” singer announced she would need to reschedule her appearance at Nashville’s Sing for Science event, originally set for Sunday, June 22. “There’s just no way I can get on a plane right now,” she said.
Musgraves expressed her disappointment, sharing that she had been looking forward to the event for months. “I’m truly bummed and sorry for the inconvenience,” she added. “But there’s no other option.”
She also posted a close-up of the X-ray, overlaying it with a sticker that simply read “Pain.”
The event has now been rescheduled for September 18 at the Ryman Auditorium. Tickets for the original date will still be valid, and fans have a 30-day window if they need a refund or can’t attend the new date.
The special event will feature a live conversation between Musgraves and renowned mycologist Paul Stamets as part of the Sing for Science series.
