Speaking with PEOPLE while partnering with Chase Sapphire Reserve, Langley said she has devoted much of her life to her craft and career.

Ella Langley is stepping into a defining moment in her career, embracing both her rapid rise in the music industry and the personal changes that come with it.

In an exclusive conversation with PEOPLE ahead of a private dinner and acoustic performance at Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry stage, presented in collaboration with Chase Sapphire Reserve, the country artist reflected on what has been a breakthrough year. Now recognized as one of the genre’s fast-rising stars, Langley spoke about balancing professional success with her evolving personal life.

The 27-year-old singer shared that she has spent most of her life committed to music and her craft, but admitted that her current level of visibility has also made her think more about life beyond her career. Alongside her professional ambitions, she expressed curiosity about eventually settling down and exploring a more personal, grounded chapter of her life.

Although her success may appear sudden to many, Langley’s journey has been years in the making. After relocating from Hope Hull, Alabama to Nashville around 2019, she spent years writing songs, performing small gigs, and building relationships within the local music community.

Early releases such as “Country Boy’s Dream Girl” and “Damn You” helped establish her artistic identity in 2022. Her 2024 collaboration with Riley Green, “You Look Like You Love Me,” became a major commercial hit and earned widespread recognition across the industry. These milestones paved the way for her 2026 album Dandelion, which includes the standout single “Choosin’ Texas.”

Langley described her current phase as an adjustment to increased attention, noting that both her music and personal life are now under greater public scrutiny. While she acknowledged that being heard has always been the goal, she admitted that navigating fame also means learning to exist as both an artist and an individual in the public eye.

She also spoke about the challenge of sharing deeply personal music while maintaining some privacy, explaining that her songs are drawn from genuine experiences, which can make interpretation by the public feel more complex.

Despite her growing fame, Langley emphasized that she does not intend to change who she is. She said that what fans see in interviews and performances is consistent with who she is in everyday life.

Much of Dandelion was shaped by that sense of authenticity and connection to her roots. Langley explained that she wanted the project to reflect her upbringing in Alabama and give listeners a clearer sense of where she comes from. The album spans multiple genres, blending country, folk, and pop influences while maintaining a strong sense of place and identity.

She revealed that the creative direction for the album was clear from the start, with the title track helping establish the tone for the entire project. Rather than approaching the songwriting process loosely, she intentionally set a thematic and sonic direction early on and stuck closely to it throughout production.

Looking back on her childhood, Langley recalled early musical influences such as hymns and traditional folk songs, noting that those roots helped shape her artistic foundation. At the same time, she allowed room for spontaneity in the studio, saying some tracks came together quickly and naturally during the recording process.
