Ella Langley is “Choosin’ Texas” — and celebrating her success alongside Miranda Lambert.

The 26-year-old country singer shared on her Instagram Stories Thursday, Feb. 5, the exciting possibility that her viral track about the Lone Star State, co-written with Lambert, could reach No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Langley posted a screenshot of the chart, where she currently holds the No. 2 spot, just behind Harry Styles’ “Aperture,” and wrote, “Y’all have put me in a position to do something only a few women in country music history have ever achieved.”

In a follow-up slide, she added, “We’re neck and neck for #1, and if we give one final push on iTunes, we might make country music history!” She also highlighted, “Fewer than 10 women in country music have ever hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100.”

While many female country artists have appeared on other Billboard charts over the years — including Dolly Parton, Reba McEntire, Tammy Wynette, Crystal Gayle, Loretta Lynn, Roseanne Cash, The Judds, and Tanya Tucker — Langley’s point is valid: very few women in the genre have topped the Hot 100 specifically.

Historically, only a handful of country or country-influenced songs have reached the Hot 100 summit, which is mostly dominated by pop and rap in recent years. Past female artists to accomplish this include Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood, and Beyoncé.

Langley also shared a photo of herself hugging Lambert with the caption, “I know we can do it ❤️,” and closed her Stories with, “Let’s do it for women & let’s do it for country music 🫶🏻.”

The pair’s bond has grown stronger since their joint performance of “Kerosene” at the 2025 ACM Awards, after which Lambert referred to Langley on Instagram as “my fellow dog-loving, country music soul sister.”

Their collaboration isn’t stopping with “Choosin’ Texas,” either. Lambert has also been involved in producing Langley’s upcoming second album, Dandelion, set for release on April 10.
