Church Girl comes after the release of her November single, Dream Come True.

Carly Pearce is opening up about her evolving relationship with faith in her latest music.
Her new single, Church Girl, released Friday, Jan. 23, sees the 35-year-old country singer reflecting honestly on her experiences with religion, aiming to offer a sense of acceptance to her fans.
“I grew up in church, and faith has always been a big part of my life,” Pearce told PEOPLE exclusively. “But I’ve also noticed a lot of double standards when it comes to faith.”
Pearce candidly shared the struggles she has faced living her life in the public eye. “There have been moments in my life that weren’t very pretty. None of us are perfect. As a Christian woman, I’ve felt shame, guilt, judgment, and confusion,” she said.
The song emerged from experiences Pearce wished she had guidance for when growing up, particularly regarding Christian values such as sexual purity. She also drew inspiration from her very public breakup, reflecting on feelings of failure and uncertainty. “I’ve asked myself, ‘Does this mean I’m not a Christian? Does this mean God hates me?’” she said.
Through Church Girl, Pearce has found the reassurance she wishes she could have given her younger self. “I want her to know, ‘You’re okay. We’re all on a journey. No matter where you are, Jesus loves you,’” she explained.
The song isn’t just personal — it’s meant for her listeners as well. Pearce hopes the track offers comfort and acceptance. “I want fans to know I don’t judge them, and they shouldn’t feel shame or guilt. We’re all human, and you’re welcome here,” she said.
Church Girl follows her November release, Dream Come True, an introspective track exploring the costs of success. Pearce noted that while these songs are serious in tone, they hint at the variety listeners can expect from her upcoming work. “I dug deep and didn’t hold back,” she said.
As she prepares her fifth studio album, slated for 2026, Pearce says this project reflects personal growth and self-awareness. “I’m writing from experience now, looking back on moments in my life, and I feel ready to share these songs. The last 10 years in the spotlight shaped me, and now I can put this music out with confidence,” she said.
She added, “These two songs give a glimpse into my personal and artistic growth.”
