“…I mean, this is about as honest a lyric as you can get,” Shelton joked.

Blake Shelton and Luke Bryan are known for their playful online banter, and Shelton’s latest joke might be one of his funniest yet.
This time, Shelton targeted Bryan’s newly released song, “Word On The Street,” poking fun at a chorus lyric that mentions being “B.S. free in B.F.E.” Instead of letting it slide, Shelton decided to roast it while doing farm work on his tractor in Oklahoma.
In a social media video, Shelton explained, “Hey guys, it’s Blake. I’m out here doing some farm work in Oklahoma. I was driving along listening to an old country station in Ardmore, and then I heard my initials in a song. So, naturally, I turned it up.”
He quickly realized it was Bryan’s new track playing. “I heard the lyrics and, honestly, I had to look up what B.F.E. meant because he says ‘B.S. free in B.F.E.,’” Shelton joked. “And I have to say, this is one of the most honest lyrics I’ve ever heard from Luke.”
Staying true to his comedic style, Shelton continued: “I’m thrilled because I’ve never been butt effing in Egypt. Never been there! So he’s right—honest lyric. Risky, but powerful. And very truthful.”
Shelton didn’t stop there. “It’s always wild when you hear your name or initials in a song and realize it’s Luke, who’s a buddy of mine. Makes sense he knows these things about me. But seriously, this is a super honest lyric. Go check out Luke’s new song. I’m proud of him—I love him,” he said.
Bryan himself later acknowledged the lyric on Instagram, joking that it was a nod to Shelton.
This playful jab is just the latest in years of Shelton’s teasing. He previously called out a fan wearing Luke Bryan merch at one of his shows and had a shirt featuring his own face delivered to her. Over the years, the two stars have traded humorous jabs—from Shelton mimicking Bryan’s dance moves onstage to Bryan being mistaken for Shelton at a gas station.
