Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter Tour Begins with a Bold Fashion Statement
Beyoncé kicked off her Cowboy Carter Tour in style, opening night on Monday, April 28, at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles. The 43-year-old superstar took the stage in a striking Western-inspired outfit that paid homage to her Grammy-winning 2024 country album. Styled by Shiona Turini, her custom Mugler ensemble featured a white leather corset bodysuit paired with buckled chaps, detailed with 1,740 precision-cut fringe elements.
Naturally, she completed the look with a cowboy hat. Her platinum blonde hair was worn in voluminous curls that framed her face and shoulders.
The show opened with “Ameriican Requiem,” the first track from Cowboy Carter, and lasted nearly three hours. The performance included more than 35 songs and heartwarming appearances from her children. A rare home video of her 7-year-old son Sir was shown, while his twin sister Rumi—who made her musical debut on the track “Protector”—joined Beyoncé and her 13-year-old sister Blue Ivy on stage. In clips shared online, Rumi dazzled in a shimmering gold feather dress paired with matching cowboy boots.
Blue Ivy, who previously joined her mother as a backup dancer on the 2023 Renaissance Tour, made several appearances during the Cowboy Carter show. She performed behind Beyoncé and Rumi in a glittering gray outfit that complemented her mother’s custom bodysuit and coordinating chaps.
Beyoncé shares her three children—Blue Ivy, Rumi, and Sir—with her husband, Jay-Z.
During one moment in the Cowboy Carter performance, Beyoncé wowed the audience in a high-tech, color-shifting gown seemingly controlled by lighting effects. A clip shared by Pop Base shows the long-sleeved dress starting as a striking combination of blue and red. It then transforms completely red with flashing dot-like lights before shifting to a deep blue, with the light display becoming even more elaborate.
In a past interview with GQ from October 2024, Beyoncé reflected on the experience of touring with her family.
“I’ve worked hard to give my children as much normalcy and privacy as possible, keeping my personal life separate from the public spotlight,” said the 35-time Grammy Award winner. “It’s easy in this industry to turn your life into performance art.”
She added, “I try to plan tours around my kids’ school schedules. I always imagined being able to travel the world with my family, introducing them to different cultures, languages, and architecture.”
