Zimmerman has issued an apology to the Pueblo of Sandia, a federally recognized Native American tribe, as well as to his supporters.
Country singer Bailey Zimmerman has addressed the criminal charges filed against him in New Mexico following an alleged hotel room incident that reportedly resulted in thousands of dollars in property damage.
In a statement shared with TMZ, Zimmerman apologized to the Pueblo of Sandia and his supporters, saying he is treating the legal situation with the seriousness it requires.
Zimmerman expressed regret over what happened at Sandia Resort & Casino and said he never intended for his actions to be viewed as disrespectful. He acknowledged the importance of respecting the community and the opportunity he was given to perform on Native land.
The singer accepted responsibility for his actions and apologized to anyone who felt offended or affected by the situation.
Zimmerman also addressed fans who had purchased tickets for his canceled performance, saying he understood their disappointment. He admitted that being an entertainer comes with responsibilities both onstage and away from performances, and he recognized that he failed to meet those expectations.
He added that he plans to use the experience as an opportunity for personal growth and thanked fans who continue to support him while also holding him accountable.
The controversy began after reports stated that an arrest warrant had been issued for Zimmerman in New Mexico, where he is facing both felony and misdemeanor allegations.
The charges reportedly relate to an incident on May 27 at the amphitheater at Sandia Resort and Casino in Albuquerque. According to reports, Zimmerman allegedly caused damage to his hotel room, with losses estimated at around $16,000, before his scheduled performance was canceled and he was asked to leave the property.
Additional reports claimed that Zimmerman appeared intoxicated during the evening and displayed unusual behavior during soundcheck, including reportedly stumbling, acting aggressively, and throwing equipment.
