Trisha Yearwood is honoring her husband’s special day.
On Friday, Feb. 7, the She’s in Love with the Boy singer shared a heartfelt Instagram post featuring a close-up photo of herself and Garth Brooks in celebration of his 63rd birthday. “For my forever duet partner…Happy Birthday, Honey. xo,” wrote Yearwood, 60.
Yearwood and Brooks first crossed paths in 1987 and later tied the knot in 2005. Together, they have three daughters.
Yearwood’s birthday tribute comes amid legal challenges for Brooks, who is facing a lawsuit from his former makeup artist alleging sexual assault and misconduct. The accuser, identified as Jane Roe in the October 2024 filing, claims she began working for Brooks in 2017 and had been employed by Yearwood since 1999.
According to the lawsuit, the alleged misconduct began in 2019, including claims that Brooks exposed himself, sent explicit messages, and changed clothes in front of her.
Brooks has denied the accusations, calling them an attempt at extortion.
“For the last two months, I have been hassled to no end with threats, lies, and tragic tales of what my future would be if I did not write a check for many millions of dollars,” Brooks stated to PEOPLE. “It has been like having a loaded gun waved in my face.”
Brooks continued his statement by rejecting any form of settlement, emphasizing that he would not pay “hush money” as it would imply guilt for actions he insists he did not commit.
“Hush money, no matter how much or how little, is still hush money. In my mind, that means I am admitting to behavior I am incapable of—ugly acts no human should ever do to another,” he stated.
He also revealed that he had filed a lawsuit nearly a month earlier, aiming to combat what he described as extortion and character defamation. “We filed suit against this person nearly a month ago to speak out against extortion and defamation of character. We filed it anonymously for the sake of families on both sides.”
Brooks concluded by expressing his desire to move forward. “I want to play music tonight. I want to continue our good deeds going forward. It breaks my heart these wonderful things are in question now. I trust the system, I do not fear the truth, and I am not the man they have painted me to be.”
Most recently, Yearwood and Brooks performed together at Jimmy Carter’s funeral in January, closing the service with a rendition of John Lennon’s Imagine.
The couple, who have been close friends of the Carter family for years, also performed at Rosalynn Carter’s funeral in 2023.
