Jason Aldean had a thrilling surprise for the audience at his Oklahoma City show on October 13. He brought Toby Keith on stage for an unexpected duet, performing Keith’s classic hit, “Should’ve Been a Cowboy.” The crowd couldn’t contain their excitement.

Aldean and his band were performing at the Paycom Center as part of his ongoing Highway Desperado Tour when he left the audience in awe by introducing his special guest.

“There’s only one guy that you kinda think of when you come to Oklahoma City….make some noise for the Big Dog Daddy, Toby Keith!” he enthusiastically announced.

Toby Keith, who had been diagnosed with stomach cancer in June 2022, has been gradually returning to the music scene. He recently performed “Don’t Let the Old Man In” at the People’s Choice Country Awards on September 28, where he received the Icon Award. During Aldean’s show, Keith playfully mentioned his ongoing health journey, saying, “I’m on my rehab tour.”

He added, “If I’m not at my bar, I’m down at Hollywood Corners, or I’m on stage with Jason Aldean. The Almighty’s been riding shotgun, and my ass is ready to get back to work!”

“Should’ve Been a Cowboy” was the song that launched Toby Keith’s career. It served as the lead single from his self-titled debut album in 1993 and marked the beginning of his impressive string of 20 No. 1 hits.

Fan-shot footage captured the memorable duet between Keith and Aldean, with both artists leading the audience in a singalong as they shared the stage. Jason Aldean later shared several photos on social media to commemorate the performance.
