Announced on Thursday, the network revealed that the highly anticipated feature-length documentary, “Reinventing Elvis: The ’68 Comeback,” will have its exclusive premiere on Paramount+ in the U.S. and Canada on Tuesday, August 15. International audiences in the U.K., Latin America, Brazil, France, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, and Italy can catch the documentary on Wednesday, August 16.
Timed strategically to coincide with the anniversary of Presley’s passing, “Reinventing Elvis: The ’68 Comeback” provides an intimate behind-the-scenes look at the making of “The ’68 Comeback.” Originally broadcasted on December 3, 1968, the special emerged as the most-watched television event of the year, captivating nearly half of the TV-watching audience. Dressed in his iconic black leather suit, Presley delivered unforgettable performances that revitalized his career and left an indelible mark on music history.

“Reinventing Elvis: The ’68 Comeback” offers a captivating narrative, told from the perspective of Emmy Award-winning television director Steve Binder. The documentary provides an inside look at the historic 1968 Comeback Special, featuring interviews with Elvis experts and conversations with members of the audience. Additionally, the film showcases fresh renditions of Elvis hits performed by contemporary artists, including Darius Rucker, Latin GRAMMY® winner Maffio, and America’s Got Talent finalist Drake Milligan, who was previously seen in CMT’s popular series “Sun Records,” also available for streaming on Paramount+.
