Miley Cyrus’ night at the 2025 Grammys got off to a great start.
On Sunday, February 2, the “Flowers” singer made her first public appearance at the Grammy Awards since her brother Trace expressed concern over their father, Billy Ray Cyrus. Miley, 32, attended the show with her mom, Tish Cyrus, and her boyfriend, Maxx Morando.
Shortly after arriving at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, Miley learned that she and Beyoncé won a Grammy for their collaboration “II Most Wanted” in the country duo/group performance category.
The “Angels Like You” singer, who won her first Grammy at the previous year’s ceremony, earned a Grammy in the country category before her dad did.
Miley’s appearance followed Trace’s emotional letter to Billy Ray on Instagram, posted on January 22, in which he shared that after years of wanting to emulate him, he could “barely recognize him now.”
The letter from Trace came after fans expressed concern over Billy Ray’s chaotic performance at The Liberty Ball during President Donald Trump’s inaugural celebrations.
“You’re not healthy Dad & everyone is noticing it,” Trace wrote. “As I write this with tears in my eyes I hope you realize this message only comes from a place of love and also fear that the world may lose you far too soon.”
“I’d love to help you if you would open up and receive the help,” he continued. “You know how to reach me. Till that day comes I will continue to pray for you.”
Billy Ray addressed the criticism in a statement to PEOPLE days later, explaining that he “wouldn’t have missed the honor of playing this event whether my microphone, guitar, and monitors worked or not.”
“I’ve learned through all these years when the producer says, ‘You’re on,’ you go entertain the folks even if the equipment goes to hell,” he said. “I was there for the people and we had a blast. That’s called rock n roll!!!”
On Jan. 24, a Cyrus family source told PEOPLE that the family wants to distance themselves from the drama.
“They got through the drama of 2024, and it’s a new year,” the insider shared. “Miley and Noah and Braison and Tish, they don’t want to be part of this Cyrus family feud. This is not enjoyable for them.”
Billy Ray, 63, is the father of sons Trace, 35, and Braison, 30, and daughters Brandi, 37, Miley, and Noah, 25, with Tish, 57, whom he divorced in 2022. He is also father to son Christopher, 32.
Two days later, another source told PEOPLE that Miley doesn’t want to be involved in the drama.
“Miley used to feel overwhelmed by the family drama. She worked hard to remove herself. She’s not about to get involved again,” the source explained. “She’s in a great place now. She’s thriving and looking out for herself,” they added about the “Malibu” singer.
