Megan Moroney Says Fans Who Spot Her ‘Bare-Faced’ in Public ‘Deserve a Picture’

Moroney revealed to Cosmopolitan that when she’s feeling down, changing up her look — whether with a spray tan or lighter hair — helps lift her mood.

Megan Moroney is reflecting on the blonde hairstyle that has become closely associated with her country music career.

In a recent interview with Cosmopolitan, the 28-year-old singer discussed whether she might eventually trade her signature blonde hair for a darker shade. She also talked about how she reacts when fans recognize her in everyday life without the makeup and hair extensions she typically wears for public appearances.

Moroney has maintained her blonde look since before releasing her debut single, “Wonder,” in 2021. Although she has considered becoming a brunette, she said she plans to hold off on the transformation for now because the blonde style continues to suit her.

The singer also revealed that changing her appearance has long been connected to her emotions. She recalled first going blonde at 16 following her first heartbreak. Her mother had previously discouraged her from coloring her hair, but eventually gave her permission after seeing how upset she was.

Looking ahead, Moroney said she would like to embrace a more natural appearance during a future phase of her career. She explained that fans already see a more casual version of her away from the stage and understand that her glamorous performance look isn’t how she looks all the time.

Moroney said she particularly appreciates supporters who recognize her without the elaborate styling. For her, being identified while she’s makeup-free and without her extensions is a sign that someone genuinely follows her and knows what she looks like beyond her polished public image.

The CMA Award winner added that she would happily take a photo with someone who manages to recognize her in her natural state, saying those fans have earned the opportunity.
