Luke Combs Reveals the Lavish Gift He Received from Garth Brooks: “I Was Just Floored”
Luke Combs is cruising in style these days — and it’s all thanks to Garth Brooks.
During an appearance on the Armchair Expert podcast on Monday, Aug. 18, the 35-year-old singer shared the surprising story of how Brooks thanked him for a favor with a gift worth nearly $90,000: a blue Ford Bronco Raptor.
Combs recalled that last Christmas his manager showed up at his house unexpectedly, driving the luxury SUV. “He would never show up at my house unannounced, so I thought it was strange,” Combs said. “He walks in and throws me the keys, and I’m like, ‘Are you giving me your car? What is this?’ ”
That’s when his manager explained the real surprise: the vehicle was from Garth Brooks. “I was like, ‘What?!’ ” Combs remembered. At the time, he didn’t even know Brooks very well.
The gift was a thank-you for Combs’ performance at the 2022 Nashville Songwriters Awards, where Brooks was being honored. Held at the Ryman Auditorium, the event asked artists to perform their favorite Brooks-penned song. Combs chose 1995’s “The Beaches of Cheyenne.”
According to Combs, Brooks’ team reached out to his manager after the event to ask what he liked, eventually ordering the Bronco Raptor as a gesture of appreciation. Delivery took nearly a year.
Combs admitted he hadn’t spoken to Brooks again until after the car arrived, since his involvement in the ceremony had been relatively small. “It wasn’t even a big deal for me — it was close by, and I only sang part of the show,” he explained.
But when he finally called to thank him, Brooks pointed out what made the gesture meaningful: “He said, ‘Yeah, but you could’ve booked your own show that night and made this much money instead.’ I was just kind of floored by that,” Combs said.
Jokingly, he added that he now wonders if the other artists who performed at the induction also ended up with new cars.
Beyond surprise gifts, Combs has had a busy year performing. In May, he told PEOPLE that he had about 14 shows left in 2025 after already completing 10 earlier in the year. But the country star emphasized he wants to prioritize family life: “I want to be home with my kids. I want to see them grow up and know they’re important to me.”
