Luke Combs Reflects on Living a Surprisingly Simple Life Focused on Family, Authenticity, and Staying Grounded

“Honestly, my life is surprisingly normal—and that’s exactly how I like it…”

Luke Combs may be one of country music’s biggest stars, but when it comes to his daily life, things are refreshingly simple. Despite being a two-time CMA Entertainer of the Year and a multi-platinum-selling artist, the North Carolina native has remained grounded—and says he’s intentionally kept his life low-key since the beginning of his career.

“My life is surprisingly normal, and honestly, that’s exactly how I want it,” Combs told Katie Neal during an interview with Audacy.

To maintain that sense of normalcy while navigating the demands of superstardom, Combs has focused on finding a healthy balance between his work and personal life. Through it all, staying true to himself has been essential—onstage, in the public eye, and at home.

“I feel like who I am in public is just who I am in general,” he explained. “There’s no act, no persona—it’s just me being me. And that’s what I’ve always wanted. I didn’t want to pretend or try to be someone I’m not.”

At home, Combs is simply a dad and husband, sharing a cozy 2-bedroom, 2,000-square-foot house with his wife Nicole and their two sons, Tex and Beau.

“Nicole and I have our room, and the boys share theirs. We’re always in close quarters,” Combs said on The MeatEater Podcast.

The modest living space means family time is constant, something Combs values deeply as he and Nicole aim to give their sons a down-to-earth upbringing.

“Our living room doubles as their playroom,” he said with a laugh. “They have free rein to tear it up, but every night we all clean it together.”

Though he certainly has the means to buy a larger house or indulge in extravagant purchases, Combs says he’s never been one for flashy luxuries.

“I could go out and buy the latest and greatest everything, but I don’t,” he told Taste of Country. “Sure, I’ve got some really nice things I’m grateful for, but I prefer to use what I have and get the most out of it.”

That said, Combs isn’t immune to the occasional splurge—especially on what he calls “typical country guy stuff.” His favorites? Guitars, land, and watches.

“I’ve got some beautiful old Gibsons that sound amazing,” he said. “I’m not the best guitarist, but I love playing, and a good-sounding guitar just makes me happy. And man, I’m really into watches—it’s bad, really bad,” he joked. “And land, for sure—especially hunting land. That’s a big one for me.”
