Luke Bryan and Blake Shelton are keeping their playful rivalry alive.

After releasing his newest single, Word on the Street, Bryan shared a funny Instagram video breaking down the lyrics—and taking a lighthearted jab at Shelton.

Filmed outdoors in a field, the 49-year-old “Play It Again” singer answered the question, “What does BS Free in BFE mean?”

“BS-free means Blake Shelton-free. And I’m in BFE, which stands for bum f— Egypt—it’s way out there,” Bryan explained. “It’s hard to get found in Egypt. So if I’m in BFE and Blake Shelton-free, I’m truly happy,” he added before walking away.

In his caption, Bryan tagged Shelton, writing, “@blakeshelton guess that makes you LB free in BFE?”

Shelton, also 49, fired back with his own Instagram video, praising Bryan and the song. “I was driving, listening to a country station, and heard my initials in a song—I realized it was Luke’s,” the “God’s Country” singer said.

“I’m not the sharpest knife in the drawer, so I had to look up BFE,” Shelton joked. “BS-free in BFE… that’s one of the most honest lyrics I’ve heard from Luke. I’ve never been butt-f’ing in Egypt—I’ve never even been to Egypt—so it’s true.”

Shelton called the line “risky and powerful” and “very honest” and added, “It’s always wild hearing your name in a song, especially when it’s from a buddy like Luke who knows these things about me. I just wanted to say it’s a super honest lyric. Go check out his new song—I’m proud of him, I love him.”

In response, Bryan commented, “I’m nothin if not honest.”

Word on the Street was released on February 19, following weeks of teasing on social media. This is Bryan’s first single since his 2024 album Mind of a Country Boy.

Their friendly back-and-forth comes just a month after Shelton playfully called out a fan wearing a Bryan t-shirt during one of his shows.
