Lainey Wilson has a clear vision for what matters most when it comes to her upcoming wedding to Devlin “Duck” Hodges.

The country star spoke with PEOPLE at the 2026 Grammy Awards, where she shared the non-negotiables for her future celebration with the former NFL player-turned-realtor, who is 29.

For Wilson, 33, the priority is keeping the day centered on its true purpose. She explained that she wants her closest loved ones in attendance — including her parents, sister, and nieces and nephews — along with great music and memorable food.

When asked about the menu, Wilson said she hopes to strike a balance that reflects both her background and her fiancé’s tastes. Growing up in Louisiana, she’d love to include Cajun-inspired dishes, while Hodges is more of a steak fan, meaning the final spread may be a blend of both.

Wilson publicly confirmed her engagement in February 2025.

She later opened up about the proposal in an April 2025 TikTok shared by WTVF-TV, revealing that Hodges popped the question during what she thought was a casual visit to the George Jones estate. She said the two had talked about touring the property, and he insisted they go sooner rather than later.

At first, Wilson admitted she convinced herself the proposal would happen that day — even calling her sister to share her suspicion — before second-guessing herself out of fear of disappointment.

Ultimately, her instincts were spot on. When they arrived, she realized Hodges had something special planned, complete with candles and framed photos. Wilson said the moment exceeded her expectations and couldn’t have been more perfect.

In a previous interview with PEOPLE in August 2025, the “Heart Like a Truck” singer also teased her wedding-day look, saying she plans to take a bold approach with her dress. As for Hodges’ reaction, Wilson joked that she hopes seeing her walk down the aisle will leave him in tears.
