Howdy: Welcome to the Grand Ole Opry, written by archives director Emily Frans, honors the iconic music venue’s lasting impact.

The Grand Ole Opry has been a cornerstone of country music since its founding in 1925, and now a new children’s book aims to introduce the legendary venue to the next generation of fans.

PEOPLE exclusively reveals the cover of Howdy: Welcome to the Grand Ole Opry, a picture book written by the Opry’s Director of Archives and Content Management, Emily Frans, and illustrated by Susannah Chapman. Set to be released this fall by Abrams Books for Young Readers, the book also includes a foreword by Grammy-winning artist Lainey Wilson.

Celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, the Opry has long been a symbol of country music’s rich history. In Howdy, a young performer guides readers through the behind-the-scenes magic of the venue, offering glimpses into dressing rooms, band rehearsals, and more.

The book also showcases a mix of illustrations and photographs featuring legendary Opry performers such as Dolly Parton, Johnny Cash, and Darius Rucker, along with quotes from current Opry members like Scotty McCreery, Kelsea Ballerini, and others.

“My kids love visiting the Grand Ole Opry, and I treasure the joy and excitement I see in their eyes every time we walk through those doors,” Frans tells PEOPLE. “This book takes readers behind the scenes, allowing them to experience the energy and anticipation of stepping onto that legendary stage for the first time.”

“The Opry is more than just a venue; it’s a place of profound cultural significance where artists and fans come together through their shared love of music,” Frans adds. “I can’t wait to inspire kids to visit, explore its rich history, and even dream about making their own debut there one day!”

My dreams have always been tied to the Grand Ole Opry. At first, I just wanted to see the show—the same one I used to sit on the floor and watch on TV. That dream came true when I was nine years old, stepping into the Opry for the first time. My little country heart couldn’t have been happier walking into a place that represented more than just music—it was a way of life. A life my family and I were proud to live. I still remember exactly where I sat, who I watched perform, and even the scent of popcorn filling the air.

I also dreamed of one day making my debut and standing in the circle where all my heroes had stood before me. That dream became reality on February 14, 2020, when I finally got to plant my boots in that legendary spot.

Honestly, I was never the little girl who dreamed about her wedding day. Instead, I was the one already planning what I would sing and wear if I ever got the chance to stand on that legendary stage.

In June 2024, that dream came full circle when I officially became a member of the Grand Ole Opry family. Of all the blessings and accolades I’ve received, this is my greatest achievement so far.

The Opry’s mission is to serve the country music community while preserving the traditions that make the genre and its family so special. It welcomes everyone with open arms, honors those who paved the way, and believes in creating opportunities for those brave enough to share their voice with the world.
