The country singer is currently performing in Australia as part of her Whirlwind World Tour.

Lainey Wilson expressed love and encouragement for a young fan battling cancer.
On Wednesday, February 11, during her tour stop at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre in Brisbane, Australia, the “Somewhere Over Laredo” singer honored 6-year-old Tessa, who is fighting stage 4 cancer, by naming her her “Cowgirl of the Night.”
An Instagram video shared on Sunday, February 15, by Australian content creator Samuel Weidenhofer features Tessa’s mother, Renee Perry, discussing her daughter’s ongoing battle with cancer.
“Moms are supposed to fix everything, but this isn’t just a scraped knee,” Perry said. She is working to raise at least $500,000 to fund Tessa’s treatment in the U.S. “We’re doing everything we can to find options that might work.”
Tessa was first diagnosed with stage 4 high-risk neuroblastoma in November 2023 and experienced a relapse in 2025. According to a GoFundMe page set up for her, Australian specialists informed the family that no curative treatments remain in the country after years of chemotherapy, radiation, surgeries, and immunotherapy.
“If there were something here that could help, we would do it,” Perry said. “But we have to try this, or she might not have a future.”
Tessa is surrounded by love from her mother Renee, father Darren, and older brother Remy.
The GoFundMe describes her as “a bright and creative little girl who enjoys experimenting with Mecca makeup and fun wigs. She loves crafts, is passionate about learning to read, and her favorite color is pink. She proudly shows off every new word she learns.”
In the video, Weidenhofer surprises Tessa with tickets to Wilson’s concert that evening. At the show, Tessa even meets the Grammy-winning artist backstage, who invites her to join her on stage as her “Cowgirl of the Night.”
“I met an incredibly special cowgirl today. She’s one of the bravest little girls I’ve ever met,” Wilson said while bringing Tessa on stage.
Wilson added, “Tessa, if anyone has a ‘Heart Like a Truck,’ it’s you,” and then guided her to repeat: “I am beautiful, I am smart, I am talented, I can do anything, and I’m ‘Cowgirl of the Night!’”
