Jason Aldean’s special one-night co-headlining concert with Brooks & Dunn, which was planned for the iconic Fenway Park in Boston, MA, has been canceled. The show was set for Friday, May 30.
On May 29, Fenway Concerts’ official Instagram account announced the cancellation to fans, explaining that it was due to “unforeseen circumstances.” Alongside the country concert, Shakira’s performance, originally scheduled for the same night, has also been canceled.
The announcement stated, “Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Shakira and Jason Aldean and Brooks & Dunn performances originally scheduled for May 29th and May 30th respectively at Fenway Park have been canceled.”
Fans who already purchased tickets will be refunded through their original point of purchase.
The venue closed the announcement by saying, “We apologize for the inconvenience.”
Many fans expressed their frustration and confusion in the comments, upset by the late notice and lack of details.
One user wrote, “This is insane. My mom flew all the way from Florida to come to the concert.”
Another said, “What? I’m on my way to Boston 😮😢”
A third added, “Why wait until the day before to cancel? This sucks for fans who paid for parking, took time off work, and made travel plans.”
The highly anticipated Jason Aldean and Brooks & Dunn concert was also expected to feature opening acts Nate Smith and RaeLynn. Aldean shared the cancellation notice on his social media but has not yet made a personal statement.
When the concert was first announced, Aldean expressed his excitement: “Playing Fenway Park has always been a highlight for me over the years. I love the city of Boston, the people, and the energy surrounding the city. Getting to play it with some of my musical heroes, Brooks & Dunn, is going to be one for the ages.”
Kix Brooks added, “It’s going to be a blast playing such an iconic stadium like Fenway with our buddy Jason. See you in the spring, Boston!”
Other artists are still scheduled to perform at Fenway Park throughout the summer, including Hozier, The Lumineers, and Thomas Rhett. Rhett is currently set to take the stage on July 19, with support from Teddy Swims, Tucker Wetmore, and The Castellows.
Although their Fenway Park show was expected to be a major event, both Brooks & Dunn and Jason Aldean have numerous other performances planned for 2025.
