“During a recent interview on the ‘Today’ show, Parton became emotional as she discussed the loss of her husband and lifelong partner.”

“In a new interview two months after the passing of her beloved husband, Carl Dean, Dolly Parton reflects on the emotional toll of the loss. Speaking on TODAY from Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on May 2, the 79-year-old music icon kept a brave face despite becoming visibly emotional while discussing Dean. ‘I get very emotional when people mention it,’ Parton shared with Savannah Guthrie. ‘We’ve been together for 60 years. I’ve loved him since I was 18.'”
“Reflecting on life since Dean’s passing, Parton admitted, ‘It’s a major adjustment, trying to change my routines and habits. I’ll be okay, and staying deeply involved in my work has been the best thing for me. But I’ll always miss him and love him. He was such a wonderful partner.’ The ‘Jolene’ singer also expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support and love she has received from her fans following her husband’s death.”
“Parton expressed her gratitude, saying, ‘I’m so thankful. I’ve received countless cards, letters, and flowers from people around the world.’ She then joked, ‘I had no idea Carl Dean was so famous.’ Dean, who preferred to stay out of the public eye, supported his wife’s legendary career from behind the scenes for many years. Parton also reminisced about a recent heartwarming moment with an excited young fan during one of her Dollywood parades.”
“Parton recalled the moment with the young boy during the parade, saying, ‘I was thinking, ‘Honey, are you going to have a heart attack right here in front of everyone?’ It was the sweetest thing. I just wanted to jump off the cart and run over to him to give him a hug. It was such a beautiful moment.’ That parade, however, was emotionally overwhelming for Parton, who is still mourning the loss of her husband. ‘I became really emotional after the parade because there was so much love,’ she explained. ‘Right after I had lost Carl, I was overwhelmed with emotion. I got into the van and just broke down.'”
