Dolly Parton is returning to the literary world once more!
At 79, the country music icon is set to release Star of the Show: My Life on Stage this fall through Ten Speed Press. Co-written with Tom Roland, the book marks the final installment in her autobiographical series, following Dolly Parton, Songteller: My Life in Lyrics and Behind the Seams: My Life in Rhinestones.
This latest memoir highlights Parton’s enduring stage career, tracing her journey from early performances alongside Porter Wagoner to her breakout success as a solo artist with the 1977 hit “Here You Come Again.”
The book revisits standout moments in her career, including her acting debut in the 1980 film 9 to 5—for which she also penned the beloved title track—her blockbuster tours, and her 2023 NFL halftime performance. Parton also shares memories of performing with legendary artists like Kenny Rogers and Linda Ronstadt.
Packed with Dolly Parton’s signature charm and heartfelt reflections, Star of the Show: My Life on Stage pays tribute to one of music’s most beloved icons. According to its description, the book serves as both a collector’s gem and a touching tribute for lifelong fans of Dolly.
A deluxe version of the book will include more than 350 full-color images and a special eight-page foldout listing her many performances. An audiobook version, narrated by Parton herself, will be released by Penguin Random House Audio at the same time.

The country legend has written several books over the years, from the festive children’s story Dolly Parton’s Billy the Kid Comes Home for Christmas to the suspense novel Run, Rose, Run, co-authored with James Patterson.
Beyond her work as an author and performer, Parton launched the Imagination Library in 1995 through the Dollywood Foundation. The initiative sends free, age-appropriate books to enrolled children around the world—and has distributed more than 270 million books to date.
Star of the Show: My Life on Stage will be released on November 11 and is currently available for preorder wherever books are sold.
