Carly Pearce shared that her symptoms, which were initially dismissed by doctors, turned out to be related to a heart condition. She emphasized the importance of trusting your own instincts and speaking up for yourself when it comes to health matters.

Carly Pearce shared that her heart condition was initially overlooked by doctors before she was diagnosed with pericarditis in 2024. The 34-year-old country artist recently updated Fox News on her health, revealing that she was diagnosed with pericarditis last year.
Pericarditis is a condition where the thin sac-like tissue surrounding the heart becomes inflamed, leading to sharp chest pain that can spread to the shoulders and neck. Additional symptoms include fatigue, coughing, swelling in the legs or feet, low-grade fever, shortness of breath, and heart palpitations, according to the Mayo Clinic.
“I’m feeling much better,” Pearce told the news outlet. “I’m still on a health journey, hoping that this recurrent pericarditis doesn’t come back.”
The singer urged others to advocate for their health if they have concerns, sharing that she wasn’t initially taken seriously by doctors. She emphasized the importance of being persistent in seeking answers.
“My biggest piece of advice is to listen to your body and be your own advocate because many doctors dismissed me, and I kept pushing until I got a diagnosis,” she said.
In January, Pearce shared with Today that her symptoms had been “debilitating” at one point.
“I had intense chest pain that could only be relieved if I bent over, which is a classic sign of pericarditis,” she explained. “When I lay back, it got worse because the tissue around my heart was inflamed.”
She also described experiencing severe shortness of breath.
Now, the “Hummingbird” singer said she’s doing better but is still working on adjusting to a “new normal” while managing the condition and its flare-ups.
In May 2024, Pearce opened up about her health struggles in a heartfelt video shared on Instagram.
“I’ve always been open and honest about my life, so I feel it’s important to be the same about this,” she said. “As you know, I’ve been dealing with some health issues, and through that, I was diagnosed with pericarditis, which is a heart condition.”
She went on to explain, “I’ve been working closely with my doctors and cardiologist. I still want to be out on the road because it’s really important to me, but we’ve all agreed that for my well-being, I need to make some adjustments to my shows while I’m healing.”
At the time, Pearce was touring with Tim McGraw on his “Standing Room Only Tour.”
“If my shows seem a bit different, it’s because I need to keep my heart rate in check right now,” she continued. “That doesn’t mean I won’t be okay, but it does mean I need to take this seriously for now.”
