Lana Del Rey Opens Up About Delay of Her 10th Studio Album

In a W Magazine cover feature published Tuesday, Aug. 28, Lana Del Rey explained the reason behind the postponed release of her 10th studio album, now titled Stove. The project, which was first announced as Lasso before being retitled The Right Person Will Stay, has been pushed back from its original timeline.

The 40-year-old singer shared that she decided to expand the tracklist by six songs. “They turned out to be more personal than I expected, which meant I needed more time with them,” she said. “Storytelling is at the heart of both styles, and I’ve always been interested in building worlds, especially within country music.”

For the record, Del Rey teamed up with producers Luke Laird and Jack Antonoff, noting that much of the album leans into a country-inspired sound. She added that fans can likely expect the project’s release toward the end of January 2026.

During the interview, Del Rey also revealed she once thought about creating a covers album titled Country and Western, featuring reimagined versions of California classics. “I love ‘California Dreamin’’ and Joni Mitchell’s ‘California,’” she shared, while also highlighting her fondness for the country staple “Luckenbach, Texas.”

Ahead of Stove, Del Rey dropped two singles in April — “Bluebird” and “Henry, Come On.” At that time, she confirmed that her country record would miss its initial May 21 release date and hinted that the album’s title was still in flux.
