Dolly Parton’s Hollywood Walk of Fame Star Undergoes Repairs After Being Vandalized

By Website Content Manager

The damage to the iconic country singer’s star was discovered shortly after her death at age 80.

Dolly Parton’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame is being restored after it was recently damaged.

The star was reportedly scratched, including damage that appeared to have been made across Parton’s name. Repair crews were seen working on a replacement star Tuesday, Sept. 1.

Parton received the Hollywood Walk of Fame honor in 1985 alongside actor Sylvester Stallone. The two had appeared together in the 1984 film Rhinestone, in which Parton portrayed country singer Jake Farris, a musician who makes a bet that she can transform a cab driver, played by Stallone, into a country music performer.

The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce confirmed that restoration work was already in progress after a fan noticed the damage and reported it online.

Ana Martinez, a spokesperson for the organization, said the star had apparently been vandalized with numerous scratches. She explained that preparations for the repair had been made in advance and that crews had already completed the initial stage of the restoration.

The Hollywood Historic Trust, which is responsible for maintaining the Walk of Fame stars, is overseeing the work. Martinez said the replacement star will be allowed to cure before being polished Friday, after which fans will once again be able to visit it.

The vandalism follows Parton’s death at age 80 on Aug. 25. Her nephew, Bryan Seaver, announced her passing through a video shared on Instagram. Parton’s team later said that she had died following a brief battle with cancer.

Throughout her decades-long career, Parton became one of country music’s most celebrated performers while also earning recognition for her extensive charitable efforts. She received 10 Grammy Awards from 55 nominations and was widely admired for her contributions to communities in Tennessee and throughout the United States.
