Benson Boone and Megan Moroney gave fans an unforgettable musical surprise by performing two different songs with the same title during one concert.
During Moroney’s July 9 performance at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, the 28-year-old country star first sang her track “Beautiful Things” from her Cloud 9 album. She then thrilled the audience by inviting 24-year-old Boone onto the stage to perform his own hit, “Beautiful Things,” from his 2024 debut album, Fireworks & Rollerblades.
The crowd erupted as Boone made his unexpected entrance, with cheers growing even louder once concertgoers recognized the opening notes of his chart-topping single. Fans enthusiastically sang along throughout the performance before Moroney joined him for the duet.
After Boone exited the stage, Moroney joked with the audience, asking why they couldn’t enjoy “Beautiful Things” twice in the same night.
The surprise collaboration quickly sparked reactions online. Commenters on PEOPLE’s Instagram called the performance a fun “side quest,” while another fan described it as “Beautiful Things squared.”
Earlier this year, Boone reflected on the enormous success of his breakout hit during an interview with Rolling Stone. He acknowledged that the song transformed his career, saying it was the reason he experienced such a breakthrough year and noting that it demands complete commitment every time he performs it.
Even with its massive popularity, Boone said he hopes audiences will continue discovering the rest of his music rather than defining him by a single track. While he remains proud of “Beautiful Things” and expects to keep it in his live shows for years to come, he wants listeners to recognize the depth of his growing catalog.
For the New York concert, Boone embraced the occasion by coordinating his look with Moroney, wearing pink along with merchandise from her Cloud 9 Tour. The North American tour began on May 29 in Columbus, Ohio, and is scheduled to conclude on Aug. 21 in Nashville.
Moroney first announced the tour in December 2025, roughly two months before releasing Cloud 9. Speaking with PEOPLE for a StyleWatch cover story, she described the album as the project she had been most excited to share, explaining that having more time to develop the music allowed her to create a record that truly reflected where she is in life.
She said the songs were written from a place of confidence and stability, adding that she feels secure in both her personal life and the people around her. Moroney also described the album’s overall tone as playful and self-assured, with several tracks featuring a witty, sarcastic edge.
