9:00 am: Clovis American Little League Registration

Location:  The Java Loft, 810 E 21st St, Clovis, NM 88101, USA
Details:  Clovis American Little League Baseball registration will take place from 9am-4pm at The Java Loft in Clovis. Children must be between the ages of 4 & 16 to participate. Registration cost is $65 per player. Find Clovis American Little League Baseball on Facebook for more information.

Details:  The 28th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Junior Scholarship Breakfast will begin at 9am in the Clovis High School Cafeteria. This breakfast will feature guest speaker Dr. John B Lewis. Tickets are $10 each or $100 for a reserved table. For more information, call 762-2752.

6:00 pm: Clay Paws for a Cause

Location:  Just Kiln Me Now, 405 N Main St, Clovis, NM 88101, USA
Details:  <br><br><p>Just Kiln Me Now is hosting a fundraiser for the Labor of Love Project, a local animal rescue. Bring your furbabies to Just Kiln Me Now from 6-8pm to create a unique Clay Paw Print. The cost is $20 and 50% of proceeds will help fund animal rescues from the Portales Shelter, including vet costs. The studio will also be open to paint regular pottery with30% of those purchases going toward the fundraiser.</p>

4:00 pm: MLK Jr. Commemorative March Transportation

Details:  <p>TheCity of Portales will be transporting individuals interestedin participating in the 2020 Martin Luther King,Jr. Commemorative March from EMNU  to the Memorial Building. If you would like a ride, plan to meet in front of the Campus Union Building at 4:15pm. TheMarch will start from the MLK, Jr. Tree at the Memorial Buildingat 5pm and proceed to the MLK tree behind the ENMU Library. T-Shirts will be given to the first 250 participants of this march. The Program willcontinue at TheCampus Union Building after the March.</p>

5:00 pm: Martin Luther King Junior Celebration

Location:  Campus Union Building, 1500 S Avenue K, Portales, NM 88130, USA
Details:  The annual Martin Luther King March and Celebration will begin at 5pm at the Memorial Building in Portales. The March will kick off at 5pm and will end at the Campus Union Building where the Program will continue at 6pm and will involve an awards ceremony and music by the Portales High School Choir. This event is sponsored by the City of Portales Cultural Affairs Committee, Eastern New Mexico University, and the New Mexico State Martin Luther King Jr., Commission.

Details:  Clovis Youth Volleyball registration is now open! You can register at Roy Walker gym located at 316 W 2nd from 6:30-7:30pm. Details:  The Lighthouse Mission of Clovis is in need of donations. Kitchen needs include cereal, milk, sugar, mashed potatoes, corn, paper sacks, sandwich bags, and dish soap. They are also in need of cleaning supplies including bleach. If you can donate anything to help the Lighthouse Mission, drop your donations off at 407 L Casillas Blvd.

ONGOING EVENTS ON THE HIGH PLAINS

Hope Children’s Home in Clovis is in need of help with their food pantry. Regular needs are fresh fruit and vegetables, sliced bread, & tortillas. Other items needed are toiletries and clothing for children of all ages.


The American Red Cross in Clovis is offering CPR Training. Cost is $45 per person and training can be set to accommodate participant’s schedules. Discounts are available for groups of 12 or more. Certificates will be valid for 2 years. For more information, call 763-4129 for more details.


The GLU Factory is in need of donations of twin bedding, all household items including cleaning supplies and laundry soap, toiletries, towels and other necessities for their residents at the home. They are also in need of men’s large and extra-large clothing (new & gently used). For more details, call 935-4458.


Hartley House in Clovis is in need of donations of pajamas, dolls and trucks for the children staying in the safe house. For more details, call 762-0050.


Arise Sexual Assault Services is in need of donations of new clothing (prefer dark & loose) for both men, women and children in all sizes. They are also in need of new items for the children – stuffed animals, dolls, coloring books, crayons, ect. Other items needed are feminine hygiene products.  For more details, call 226-7263.


The El Desayuno Kiwanis Club in Clovis is conducting their Annual Flag Fundraiser. Cost is $35 per year and flags will be placed at your home or business on 10 occasions throughout the year. For more details, contact Jim at 762-7850.


Girl Scouts of New Mexico Trails is seeking role models and volunteers to assist with the program. These roles include; Troop Family and Friends, Troop Leader/Co-Leader, Service Unit Volunteers, Cookie Volunteers and Event/Program Volunteers. The Community Services Center in Portales is currently in need of donations for the CSC Food Pantry. Donations may be dropped off at the center located at 1100 Community Way. For more details, call 356-8576 ext. 10.


The Pregnancy Resource Center offers a program called “Earn While You Learn” for their clients. The program allows new and expectant parents to participate in prenatal, newborn care and parenting classes through the center. Through this, they earn “Baby Bucks” to spend in the Baby Boutique. The center is currently in need of the following items to help stock the Baby Boutique; diapers, wipes, baby clothes, formula, baby food, bottles, blankets, toys, crib (new and used – must meet current safety standards), crib sheets, Pack & Play (new and used), car seats (must be new), Baby carriers/slings and CATS Bus passes. Matt 25 offers Anger Management classes on Thursday at 6pm weekly. This 8 week course is $150 and can be entered at anytime. Matt 25 also offers a 9 week Parenting Class for $180. This course requires sign up so please contact Matt 25 to do so.

Life Skills Classes are 24 weeks long and go deep into different life skills and how to deal with issues. The cost is based on income and has a sliding scale. You must sign up in advance for this course. For more information, check out lifeskillsclovis.com or call 935-4411.
